The khap panchayats of Jhansi are again in the news. The miserable happening took place in Premnagar of Hansari Gwaltoli of Jhansi. The 'always in news exploiters ' were again in the news when the fined the bride’s family a fine of Rs 5 lakhs and forced the bride to undergo so called purification. The panchs decreed that the couple will be evicted from the society of the compensation is not paid.
The news is such- An inter-cast marriage took place in Jhansi with the agreement of both bride and groom’s family. There was no objection from either side of the family and everything was going just fine until the panchs put their objections. Both the families were evicted from the society by the decree of the panchs with the condition that they will be excepted back in the society when the bride’s family pays a compensation of rupees 5 lakhs and the bright undergoes purification that is consuming cow dung and cow urine. But before the ritual could take place the police arrived at the spot and arrested one of the members of the panchs.
