Goa Agriculture Minister Vijay Sardesai has turned to cosmic science for increasing the yield of crops in Goa and with that he has also backed a pilot project close to his residence in Fatorda, where farmers would be required to chant ‘Om rom jum sah’ and channel cosmic energy to help increase the yield of crops and decrease the use of fertilisers. The minister got convinced with this art of propelling cosmic energy to crops after seeing his wife, who also practices this art of channeling cosmic energy to the soil promoted this philosophy. This art of channeling cosmic energy into the soil known as ‘Shiv Yog Cosmic Farming’ has been designed by Dr. Avadhoot Shivanand, a former chemical engineer now turned godman who runs the Shiv Yog Foundation in Gurgaon. Vijay Sardesai’s wife, a religious follower of the same technique, learnt this technique of ‘channeling Shakti into the soil’ from Shiv Yog Foundation and thereafter has been practicing it. Farmers in Goa have been receiving WhatsApp videos that show farmers sitting cross-legged and meditating with Shivanand, known as ‘Babaji’, describing the impact of ‘Shiv Yog Cosmic Farming’ on the field. In these videos, Shivanand called this exercise as a ‘science beyond science’ and compared this art of channeling the cosmic energy through third eye similar to that of Lord Shiva’s. He said meditating and chanting as such sends positive vibrations and hence increases the soil productivity. Following the circulation of videos, farmers were also called in for a free two-day workshop at the state’s official stadium, wherein a curriculum on meditation, which states at least a 20-minute recital of “Om rom jum sah” during the seed planting stage, till the seeds take roots has been described.
