Price of diesel more than petrol in Odisha, a first for India
Petrol has always been more costly than Diesel, and for the first time in India, it is the other way round in the state of Odisha. Odisha saw the price of petrol at Rs. 80.57 while the cost of diesel was Rs. 80.69.
Sanjay Lath, the Associate general secretary of Utkal Petroleum Dealers Association said that all other states have a different rate for the VAT (Value Added Tax) that is applied to petrol and diesel, but Odisha has a uniform rate that applies to both petrol and diesel, the standard VAT applied there is 28%.
