A man was arrested under non-bailable charges.
A 29-year old man was arrested today for assaulting a woman pilgrim at the Ayyappa Temple in Sabarimala, doubting her to be of menstrual age.
Hundreds of devotees attacked her and tried to prevent her entry, a 52-year-old woman Lalitha Ravi. The police said that the man was arrested under non-bailable charges because of digital evidence and photographs, he added.
The police have registered a case against 200 "identifiable" people for trying to prevent Ms. Lalitha, who had come for rice giving ceremony of her grandchild. Finally, the police escorted her to the shrine to offer prayers along with relatives.
