Mars Oppurtunity Rover unreachable after the dust storm
The Mars Oppurtunity Rover remains unreachable after a dust storm hit the planet. The US Space Agency says that it might be due to a layer of dust over the Rover.

The Rover Oppurtunity was sent to the planet Mars around 15 years ago by NASA that recently hibernated due to the possible layer of dust over it that was caused by the dust storm. The last communication with Oppurtunity happened on June 10 after which the storm hit it.

The rover's batteries might have discharged as its solar panels are covered by dust that is blocking the sunlight from reaching the panels. However, the Space AGency's Jet Propulsion Lab is trying out alternative ways to communicate with Oppurtunity by using commanding and listening methods that can still be used.

The "dust-clearing season" as the agency calls it, occurs in the period from November to January during which the rover's panels were cleaned off the dust. The scientists hope that Opportunity's panels clear off soon so that they can hear from it.
