Ranjan Gogoi Nominated as the Rajya Sabha Member
Former CJI of India Ranjan Gogoi has been nominated by the President as the Rajya Sabha Member.

One of the CJI of India who gave the verdict on Ayodhya case is now nominated as the Rajya Sabha Member. Ranjan Gogoi was the 46th CJI of India and held his office for 13 months. Gogoi headed the 5 member bench that gave the verdict on Janmbhoomi of Sri Ram and Jama Masjid on 9th November last year. 

Ranjan Gogoi has been nominated for the Rajya Sabha Member because one of the members is retired from the Rajya Sabha. And Rajya Sabha elections are to be conducted on March 26. President has nominated Ranjan Gogoi as the member because the President nominates 12 members out of 250 members. 

The nominated members are from different fields like science, art, literature, social service. Around one-fifth seat is vacant and elections are to be held on 26th March.
