Mahesh Babu Ghattamaneni was born on 9th of August, 1975 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu to a legendary actor, Siva Rama Krishna Ghattamaneni and Indira. He was fourth out of five children of Krishna and Indira. Mahesh along with his other siblings was raised at his maternal grandmother’s place during his childhood. As Krishna was busy with his film commitments, Mahesh’s academic credentials were taken care by his elder brother, Ramesh Babu. He had done his schooling from St. Bede’s Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School. He was graduated in Bachelors in commerce from Loyola College in Chennai. In 1979, Mahesh Babu made his cameo as a child artist in the film Needa. Later he appeared in Shankharavam (1987), Bazaar Rowdy (1988), Mugguru Kodukulu (1988) and Gudachari 117 (1989), Koduku Diddina Kapuram (1989), Bala Chandrudu (1990) and Anna Thammudu (1990). He had made his debut as a lead actor in the film Raja Kumarudu in 1999 along with Preity Zinta directed by K. Raghavendra Rao, for which he received Nandi award for the best male debut actor. For the film Okkadu in 2003 co-starring Bhumika Chawla, Mahesh received Filmfare award for the best actor. For his performance in Nijam, he won his first Nandi best actor award. He won the best actor in Filmfare for the second time for his movie Pokiri. Mahesh Babu got married to his longtime love and co-star Miss India Namrata Shirodkar. They have two kids, Gautam Ghattamaneni and Sitara Ghattamaneni. Mahesh Babu is a producer, media personality and a philanthropist besides an actor. He donates almost 30% of his earnings to the charity and does not publicise it. He has been a part of several campaigns and nonprofitable organisations. Mahesh has won eight Nandi awards, five Filmfare, three cineMAA, one International Indian Film Academy and three south Indian International film academy awards till date. He is one of the best artists India has. He was the second highest paid South Indian actor after Rajinikanth. He is referred to as Prince of Tollywood.
