9-year-old Kepler retires from its mission
On Tuesday, NASA retired Kepler, its first planet-hunting mission as the space telescope ran out of fuel. The telescope has been in the mission since its launch in 2009.

Kepler Space Telescope has discovered over 2600 planet outside the solar system since its launch in the year 2009. The 9-year-old telescope has exceeded all of NASA’s expectations and paved the way for them to search for life in the solar system and beyond, stated Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator of NASA's Science Mission Directorate in Washington.

The scientists have pushed Kepler to its full limits which helped them complete multiple observations and download valuable science data successfully despite the low fuel warning.
