An Australian worker got lucky because of a silly mistake of a data entry operator. Instead of A$4,921.76 (Rs. 253,788), he got paid A$492,176 (Rs. 25,382,792) due to wrong placement of a decimal point. However, he decided to listen to his conscience and decided to return the extra money. The auditor-general of the Northern Territory discovered this mistake. Further, the repayment of the extra money was made a month later as the man lived in a remote area and had to travel to the bank to return the money. The auditor-general also wrote in his report, “the failure to deal with the system-generated alert”, added to the issue.
