Majerhat bridge in Kolkata has collapsed on Tuesday around 4:40 pm. Many were killed, and several injured in this unfortunate incident and many others were feared to be trapped under the collapsed bridge. As many people are still undergoing treatment from the injuries of the incident, the people are still shaken and traumatized by the collapse. The other side of the scene is where the blame game begins. The West Bengal’s minister for urban development and municipal affairs, Firad Hakim, blamed the metro project for weakening the pillars of the bridge that has resulted in the collapse. The people living near the bridge shared Hakim’s opinion saying that the bridge was mostly congested and that the metro has taken up all the attention not allowing the Majerhat bridge the attention it needed for its repairs.
