He said that his father died when he was eight years old and since then his mother single-handedly raised him and that he owes this silver medal to his mother who is still earning Rs.14,000 working as a teacher.

Dharun Ayyasamy broke his national record in the 400 metres hurdles at the Asian Games 2018. The Asian Games 2018 are being conducted at Jakarta, Indonesia. Dharun Ayyasamy broke the record to win a silver medal. After the race, he said that he hopes that this medal will be enough for him to get a job and help his mother. He said that his dad died when he was eight years old and since then his mother single-handedly raised him and that he owes this silver medal to his mother who is still earning Rs.14,000 working as a teacher. He wants to get a job with the help of this medal and support his mother.
