India tops in the list of Highest Producer of Sulphur Dioxide
Nasa has revealed the list of the highest producer of Sulphur Dioxide. India is at the top in the list then comes Russia and China.

India maintains its position in the top list of highest producer of Sulphur Dioxide in the ongoing year. The good news is that the overall production of SO2 has declined for the first time in these years. It is recorded that there is a 6% decrease as compared in 2019 than in 2018. The reports have been revealed by Greenpeace India and the Centre of Research on Energy and Clean Air. India is at the top for the consecutively fifth year.

SO2 is one of the most poisonous gases released by factories which causes various severe diseases that includes heart disease, lung cancer, premature death. It is recorded that around 21% of SO2 was emitted in the year 2019.

Many factories are responsible for the emission of these harmful and toxic gases. Some of the thermal power stations include at Singrauli, Neyveli, Sipat, Mundra, Surat, Chennai, Visakhapatnam and Koradi.

No doubt, India has controlled the emission of SO2. But still more measures have to be taken in order to stop the emission of the toxic gas. Various measures have been suggested by the government, but the factories and the thermal station authorities are not taking it into consideration.
