The new Economy AC coaches will have a composite wooden structure in a light beige colour. Further, more comfortable seats which are also fire-proof. This new AC coach will probably replace the age-old Sleepercoaches in Mail/Express trains. In any case, it has more comforts than the AC3-tier coach! Ravinder Gupta, GM of Railway Coach Factory quoted, "We have tried to make up for the lesser space by providing personalised comfort features to passengers. Some of the features match aircraft and luxury cars. All this has been done with only a marginal increase in manufacturing cost. The new coaches are also keeping in line with the demand growth for AC travelling in the last few years."
