Rahman becomes the latest to join the bandwagon of #MeToo
The music composer spoke about the movement and his colleague Vairamuthu

AR Rahman’s sister AR Raihanah revealed in an interview that she had heard some stories of harassment by Vairamuthu but she has not faced any such incident and he had behaved very respectfully with her in the few meetings they have had. However she said, the fact that he has been involved in such incidents is an open secret in the industry, and the victims must speak up.

Shortly after this AR Rahman released a statement saying that some of the names of victims and perpetrators have shocked him, but he applauds them for standing up for themselves. He said that social media had provided women with that much-needed platform on which they can express themselves, he further added that the justice system should come up with a method under which this movement does not end up being misused, but that does not deter that women need to be treated respectfully in the industry.
