Tokyo Paralympics: Twin medalist shooter, Avani Lekhara
Avani Lekhara who beat the record and became the first woman to win a gold medal in the Paralympics.

Somewhere it is hard to win one medal, and on the other side, Avani Lekhar has won two medals. One is gold, and the other is bronze. It is a proud moment for India. She became the first woman to win a gold medal in the Paralympics. It is really a proud moment when anybody gets the 'first' prefix in their name.

Avani was not in-bourne paralysed. She met with an accident in 2012, after which she became paralysed. She got paralysed below the waist after this horrific accident. She has become the only Indian who has won two in a single edition. In history, one player has also won two medals in the paralympics was Joginder Singh. He had won Silver and Bronze in 1984.

Her achievements

She has won bronze in the paralympic where she took part in the event and she did 50m rifle 3 position event (SH1). After winning this, she became the first woman who won two medals in Tokyo in a single edition of the event that was done on Friday.

Avani gave out the statement to the Times of India from Tokyo and said: The feeling of winning two medals is very unique and nice. I have worked very hard for both events. Glad that I could deliver when it mattered”. She also said that it was a tough final. She said she tried her best as she could even though she is happy with her bronze too. She loves the way she fought for bronze.

She had won a gold medal in the R-2 women's 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event before winning the bronze. She was a flag bearer during the closing ceremony.
