Department of telecommunications has confirmed that all the reports about 50 crore mobile numbers at risk were untrue. Earlier, people were in the state of panic, thinking their mobile numbers were at risk of facing disconnection. UDAI confirmed that delinking mobile numbers from Aadhar card and linking another Identification proof was voluntary. A new digital authentication mechanism will now be used for issuing of SIM cards.
