Rishabh Pant likely to make his ODI debut in the upcoming series
It is highly likely that Rishabh Pant may be replacing Karthik in the upcoming 5 ODI series against The West Indies. The left-handed batsman did prove himself at The Oval.

The news is that the 21-year-old Rishabh Pant is all set to make his debut as announced recently by The BCCI. He will mostly be replacing Dinesh Karthik in the upcoming 5 ODI series against the West Indies. Rishabh scored 114 at The Oval against England, and 92 in the test match that was held in Rajkot against the West Indies. He would be taking Karthik's place as Dhoni's cover.

Mr. MSK  Prasad, the chairman of selectors, upon asking if Pant would be playing only as a batsman replied: " Yes if the need arises he will be the backup keeper.". He also stated that Rishabh is being given an opportunity now just as Karthik did and they would be deciding who the best between the two is in the time to come. If Pant wants to be considered for the World Cup, this would be the best start he could get to grooming up for it. Mr. Prasad says that Pant would be something of a long-term investment. This shows that there definitely will be a good role for the young left-hander in the matches to come and if all goes well the World Cup.

The team selection for the first 2 ODI's is done and the later ones will be decided in the forthcoming days.
