The first ever mid-air refuelling of India’s combat aircraft was done successfully on Monday. This feat was achieved when 1,900 kg of fuel was transferred from the mid-air refuelling tanker of Indian Air Force’s IL78 to the Tejas LSP8 at the height of 20,000 feet. This task was done while experts from Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd and Aeronautical Development Agency were closely watching over everything from the ground station in Gwalior. According to the reports, Tejas was at a speed of 270 knots when the mid-air refuelling took place. With this feat, India has now joined the elite club of countries who have successfully done the air-to-air refuelling of military class combat aircraft.
