The Kapoor family has decided to put up the RK studios for sale. They made this announcement after they realised that it is not practically feasible to convert and renovate the studio after the fire that took down the studio. The costs would be higher, and hence the family has announced the sale of RK studios. However, Sanjay Nirupam requested the Maharashtra government not to convert the RK studios into a film museum. He said that the citizens of Mumbai have also developed a strong bond with the RK studios and hence it should stay there as a loving memory for all of us.
