A criminal defamation case was filed against the Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala by the Ahmedabad District Cooperative Bank (ADCB) claiming that they tried to defame the bank’s name by accusing them of a scam to convert 750 crores within 5 days of demonetisation.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S K Gadhvi has ordered a court enquiry into the matter under section 202 of the CrPC which is a law to inquire whether there is enough grounds to proceed further into the case. The matter will be taken up on 17th September. Randeep Singh Surjewala is the communication department in charge of the Congress.
