India gets it’s 46th Chief Justice of India as Justice Ranjan Gogoi takes oath
Gogoi becomes first to be chosen as the Chief Justice of India from the North East.

During his stint as a judge for Supreme Court, he has been a part of many crucial proceedings he had played a significant role in the ruling related to the NRC (National Register for Citizens) in Assam and the centre. 

Dipak Misra was succeeded by Justice Ranjan Gogoi who was sworn in as the Chief Justice of India of India today in the presence of President Ram Nath Kovind in the Rashtrapati Bhavan in a short ceremony. 

Heading the court for the first time where a live stream will broadcast all the proceedings. His tenure will last for 13 months, and he will retire in November 2019.
