Prime minister Modi has conducted an aerial survey of Kerala after it was delayed for some time in Kochi due to the bad weather conditions and heavy rains. He analysed the situation in the state and had announced ₹2 lakh as ex-gratia for the next kin of the deceased and ₹50,000 for those seriously injured.

Till now as many as 344 people have been killed. Kerala is experiencing the worst floods since the year 1924.
