In a government-run hospital at Kolkata, West Bengal, the doctors have removed nine needles from a 14-year-old girl’s throat; from Nadia district of West Bengal state after a four hour lasted surgery. The girl was operated the next day after she was brought from Krishnagar and admitted in the Nil Ratan Sircar medical college and hospital. The doctors could not say how the needles were stuck in the girl’s throat. The girl’s condition did not let her speak while her parents refused to open up. Manoj Mukherjee, Ear - Nose - Throat (ENT) surgeon while talking to the media told the needles were not swallowed by the girl but were placed from outside. The needles were struck to the muscles of her throat. The neighbours reported that the girl was in depression as her elder brother passed away three years back and a baby girl too expired who was adopted by her parents. The girl was taken to a soothsayer to get her back to her healthy life.
