Varanasi airport has acquired the status of becoming the first airport with a national highway under the runway.
The Lal Bahadur Shastri airport in Varanasi is set to become the first Indian airport to have a national highway under the airport’s runway. An underpass is being constructed to convert the national highway into a four-way lane, and the current runway is being extended. It is currently at 2,750 meters and is set to be extended to 4075 meters.
