India is primarily an Agrarian country. All of us know about this fact. We have all the resources we need, good fertile lands, ample amount of rain, water and sunlight. At least, in the majority of the parts. We make it to the top ten list of producers for many of the foodstuffs. However, it is very sad that our nation's agriculture should not be in line with new technology. Farmers lack scientific touch to their farming techniques.
This hindrance became an inspiration for BharatAgri founders Sai Gole and Siddharth Dialani. They observed and researched. On their journey, they met and interacted with 400 farmers. In 2017, they came up with the idea of LeanAgri which further got renamed as BharatAgri.
This platform provides customised solutions to every query of the farmers. The farmers can get advice on which plants to cultivate based on their soil type. They encourage cash crops as they are very rewarding for the farmers. Further, there are instructions about fertilizer use and other important aspects of farming.
The startup makes use of a third-party satellite. They identify the farmland and its soil type. Then there are a series of experts like soil scientists, plant entomologist, plant pathologist, plant psychologist who do the analysis and give their verdict.
This concept is not new in India. However, it is restricted to the contract farming done by big giants like Mahindra and Pepsi. They assist the farmer to increase productivity. However, only a small percentage of farmers get benefited by this. Only 3% of the farmers are rich and are able to export their produce.
BharatAgri brings this technology to the grassroots level. Farmers you have used BharatAgri services have known to benefit as their yield increases by 35% and production cost gets reduced by 10%
