After a ban on alcohol in Bihar, people have shifted to buy expensive clothes, honey cheese, a study reveals.

A study has revealed that after liquor has been banned in Bihar, people have started splurging on expensive clothes, honey, and cheese with the money they previously used to buy alcohol. 19% of the households have started to acquire new assets since the ban on alcohol. These studies have been conducted by the Asian Research Development Institute and government-funded knowledge institute Development Management Institute (DMI). This is reportedly by mostly rural women who previously suffered due to wide-spread alcohol consumption. An impressive rise in the sale was also recorded for items like buttermilk - 40% - flavored milk -28.4%- and lassi -19.7%- the report said.
