In the recent publication of the World Factbook by CIA, it codified the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang dal groups as Militant Religious Outfits.
The two organizations have been named as militant religious outfits under the tag ‘Political pressure groups and leaders’. Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh which is the parent of BJP has been named as a nationalist organization. This move has not been welcomed by these two groups, and both the groups are now analyzing their legal options on how to go about this incident and get their tags removed. Leaders of the Sangh outfits claimed they did not have anything to do with religious fanaticism and that they were just nationalist and cultural organizations. The World Factbook is an annual publication of CIA with information about various countries.
