Dust Storm Hits UP; 26 Killed
Approximately 26 people killed due to dust storm and lightning in Uttar Pradesh.

Dust storms and lightning hit 11 districts in the state of Uttar Pradesh killing 26 people. Five people died in Jaunpur and Sultanpur, four deaths reported from Unnao, three in Chandauli, three in Bahraich, two in Rae Bareli, one in Sitapur, Mirzapur, Amethi and Pratapgarh. Dust storms and bolts of lightning affected Kannauj district also, but no deaths were reported from there. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, ordered the respective authorities to provide immediate help to the areas affected and told that direct compensation would be given to the families of the casualties. CM assured that all necessary support would be extended to everyone who is hit by the dust storm and other incidents caused due to the lightning and winds. The scenario is not expected to improve in the next few days and will continue to be like this for the next two days. The weather department has warned that similar storms with speedy winds are possible tomorrow in isolated areas of the state and hence citizens are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions to keep safe from the thunderstorms and gusty winds.
