Great Barrier Reef is the Largest Living Structure on Earth
Great Barrier Reef is estimated to be the largest living structure on the earth with over 2000 km long.

Have you ever wondered the largest living structure on the earth that exists? It is the Great Barrier Reef which is 2,000 km long. It is made by the interlinking of 3000 reefs and 900 coral islands separated by a narrow passage, located under the Coral Sea.

The dimensions of the living structure are around 2000 km long, covering an area of 350,000sq km. The Great Barrier Reef is the only structure visible from the earth. It is now degrading due to weather conditions that are prevailing in the World. Like Global warming, pollution and man-made disasters are the real threat to this beautiful and largest structure.

This beautiful structure was made by the bursting of lava in water. The lava kept on drifting till it hit on the rock. After that, the process proceeds and slowly and gradually it was recognised as the largest living structure on the earth.

It is located under the Coral Sea, off the coast of Queensland, Australia. It is unique as it covers 14° of latitude from beneath the sea. The reef is among the most complicated living ecosystems in the world.
