Uganda imposes social media tax to put a barricade on ‘gossip’
Yes, you’ve heard it right! Uganda now has a new daily tax called ‘social media tax’ of 200 shillings which is approximately Rs.3.57 in Indian currency. This tax is an act to stop people from ‘gossiping’. Apparently, gossip on social media like WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, etc. have cost Uganda time and money. This tax will be implemented from July 1st, 2018. Any plans to visit Uganda anytime soon?
