Hindus don't call me for campaigning as it may affect their votes, says a Congress MP
At an event last week, Ghulam Nabi Azad, a Congress MP said that the number of Hindus who called him for campaigning has drastically reduced since 2014.

At an event held at Aligarh Muslim University, Lucknow, Ghulam Nabi Azad said that Hindus do not call him to campaign anymore. Before 2014, the percentage of people who asked him to campaign was 95 which has dropped down to just 20 % now, he said. Nabi feels that Hindus are afraid to do so since it may affect their (Hindu) votes. He also noted that most of the people who used to call him for campaigning were Hindu brothers and leaders whereas only 5% were his fellow Muslims. But with the percentage dropping down from 95 to 20, he firmly believes that there is something wrong and wonders what might have caused this change.

Contradicting Nabi's statement, Sambit Patra, a BJP spokesperson, says that this is just another attempt by Congress to insult Hindus. He also feels that Azad has desires to run campaigns in Pakistan and is belittling the Hindu community.

Patra spoke that the Hindu community strongly believes in the concept of 'Vasudaiva Kutumbakam' and that Hindus thinking any ill for Azad would only mean belittling them.
