Qutub Minar’s 50-Year-Old Doors To Be Replaced
The Archaeological Survey of India has begun replacing wooden doors and windows of Qutub Minar as the droppings of birds and bats are damaging its stone.

Qutub Minar is all set to get revamped after 50 years and the work is already in progress where the old wooden doors and windows are getting replaced. The process is going to take the entire month and will get over by the end of July. Bat poop and bird droppings are creating a nightmare for the centuries-old Qutub Minar in Delhi, following which the ASI has started work on replacing its old wooden doors and windows, a senior official said today. This work will be completed by July end. The 2.5m-high minaret, is getting refurbished after 50 years, as the Sal wood-made doors and window panels have become old, and cracks in them were allowing birds and bats to enter the inner sides of this towering monument. "The ground work began almost a month ago and the replacement work is underway. The projected cost for the entire work is Rs 8 lakh and we expect to finish it by July end," Superintending Archaeologist, ASI (Delhi Circle), N K Pathak, said.
