Was Hema Malini's father agaisnt Dharmendra?

We all know about the love story of the famous couple Hema Malini and Dharmendra. We have enjoyed their chemistry movies like Sholay. The couple is an inspiration. However, Hema Malini revealed a secret on a still aired episode of Indian Idol 12, where she recently appeared as a guest judge. She told that initially, her father was not very keen on the idea of her and Dharmendra spending time together. Usually, her mother or aunt used to accompany her to the shoots, but her father decided to be the escort. Here's the story in her own words,

"Usually, my mother or my aunt used to accompany me on shoots, but during the shoot of one of the songs, my father accompanied me. He was worried that Dharam ji and I shouldn't spend some time alone as he knew we were friends. When we used to travel in a car, my father used to sit next to me immediately. But even Dharam ji was no less. He used to sit in the next seat."

Eventually, she and Dharmendra fell in love and tied a knot. It was a private ceremony, but the couple has lived happily after that for almost five decades, and they have two daughters Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.
